Cure

Heartbreaks often breed anger and hatred inside us, but they force us to learn, to reexamine, and to accept both the situation and ourselves. We learn to forgive, and we learn that forgiveness is self-respect. Otherwise, anger and hatred will slowly destroy that very self from within. Yet it is only through the scars of love that I have learned to muster the patience and even thankfulness for the good of the past and the good of the future that will come.

“Cure” is a story of heartbreak and disillusionment. It is an exploration into unfamiliar landscapes of religion, sexuality, love, society and culture. I rip obscuring curtains to understand myself through the people who have been, or still are, fighting for their own self-respect.

They are not just subjects whose stories I just swim over. I do dive in. I embrace and understand them and, in the process, I cure myself. I forgive my once loved one and all those who left their scars on my being. Now I feel human again. (2015)
